Bed Calculator

Vessel dimensions to tonnage and bag count

Enter the vessel diameter and your layer schedule. You get volume, mass, bag counts and — if you supply the design flow — the resulting filtration rate.

Assumptions used

Mass is volume × loose bulk density. Bag counts round up. Densities used:

  • Silica filter sand1,550 kg/m³
  • Support gravel1,600 kg/m³
  • Filter anthracite800 kg/m³
  • Garnet2,300 kg/m³
  • Granular activated carbon480 kg/m³
Use these figures in a quotation request

These are sizing aids for enquiry and budgeting, not a filter design. Final layer depths, freeboard and backwash rates follow from the underdrain type, design filtration rate and target effluent quality.
