The dense bottom layer for sub-micron polishing

Garnet Filter Media

High-density almandine garnet for the fine bottom layer of multimedia filters, capturing particles that pass through sand and anthracite above.

  • Manufactured to: EN 12910
  • Manufactured to: AWWA B100

Overview

Garnet's specific gravity of around 4.0 is roughly 50% higher than silica, which is exactly why it works as the bottom layer: it stays below the sand through backwash even at a much finer particle size. That combination — fine grain, high density — lets a multimedia bed polish down to 10–20 microns without the layers inverting.
