Core Values

Ten values, and what each one costs us

A value that never forces an inconvenient decision is not a value. Each of these is paired with the practice that proves it.

  1. Quality

    The specification is the product.

    In practice

Every production lot is sampled and tested before dispatch. Material that falls outside the specified effective size or uniformity coefficient is re-screened, not re-labelled.

  2. Integrity

    We report what we measured.

    In practice

If a batch is marginal, the customer is told before it ships. A short delay costs less than a filter bed that has to be dug out in year two.

  3. Innovation

    Better process before bigger plant.

    In practice

Rotary drying, closed-loop washing and pre-matched bed packages all came from solving a customer problem, not from a capacity plan.

  4. Sustainability

A water company should not waste water.

    In practice

Washing water is recirculated through settling ponds; recovered fines go to construction grades rather than to a spoil heap.

  5. Customer Success

The bed has to work, not just arrive.

    In practice

We size beds, review formation sieve analyses and troubleshoot filter performance for customers whether or not it results in an order.

  6. Safety

Respirable silica is a controlled hazard.

    In practice

Dust suppression at every transfer point, enclosed conveying, mandatory RPE in screening and packing areas, and exposure monitoring on a fixed schedule.

  7. Continuous Improvement

Every complaint becomes a control point.

    In practice

Non-conformances are traced to the process stage that caused them, and the corrective action becomes a standing check — not a memo.

  8. Environmental Responsibility

Restore the site, not just the licence.

    In practice

Worked areas are progressively backfilled and contoured rather than left open until the concession ends.

  9. Respect

The plant is in someone's community.

    In practice

Local hiring first, haulage routed away from village roads, and a standing channel for residents to raise dust or noise concerns.

  10. Teamwork

The lab can stop the loading bay.

    In practice

Quality holds authority independent of production targets. A lot that fails does not ship, regardless of what the schedule says.

Values are easy to publish. Ask about the awkward ones.

Ask what happens when a lot fails on the day a shipment is due. The answer is the same one written above — and we will put you in touch with a customer who has seen it.
