Made on a segregated line, with the records to prove it
Food Grade Salt
Washed, dried and screened sodium chloride at ≥ 99.1% NaCl for food processing — curing, brining, cheese, bakery and seasoning. Produced, stored and packed away from the de-icing and industrial lines, and released against a lot-specific certificate of analysis.
- Manufactured to: CODEX STAN 150-1985
- Manufactured to: Food Chemicals Codex (FCC)
Overview
Food grade is not simply a higher NaCl number. It is contamination control and traceability: heavy metals held to food limits, handling that never crosses the industrial line, food-contact liners in every pack, and a lot number that ties the bag in front of you back to the day it was made and the results it was released on.
Segregation is the question every food safety auditor asks: how does a site that makes de-icing salt also make a food ingredient? The answer has to be a separate line, separate storage and separate packing, evidenced in the line records — not an assurance. We build the answer into the process so that it survives the audit rather than being argued at it.
Grain size does real work in food, and it is chosen per process rather than per preference. Curing and brining want a grade that dissolves at a predictable rate so the cure penetrates evenly; cheese brine wants a coarse grade that does not blind the surface; bakery and dry seasoning want a fine grade that disperses through a blend without segregating out of it.
Anti-caking agent is added only when you ask for it. Iodisation belongs to table salt, not to food processing — iodine is lost to heat and does nothing useful in a bakery oven — so it is not added here unless the specification calls for it.
