Sodium chloride, compressed — and it does not bridge

Water Softener Salt Tablets

Compressed sodium chloride tablets at 99.9% purity for regenerating ion exchange resin in domestic and commercial water softeners. Near-zero insolubles, uniform dissolution, and no bridging in the brine tank.

  • Manufactured to: EN 973 Grade A
  • Manufactured to: NSF/ANSI 60 (potable softening)

Overview

The failure everyone with a softener eventually meets is bridging: granular salt absorbs moisture, cakes into a crust that spans the brine tank, and leaves a void underneath. The unit keeps running, the brine draw finds no salt, and the resin stops regenerating — while the tank still looks full from the top.

Compression is what prevents it. A tablet has a fraction of the surface area of the equivalent mass of granules, so it takes up far less moisture, and tablets settle downward as they dissolve instead of locking together. That is the whole reason the format exists — it is not a packaging convenience.

Purity matters just as much. Insoluble matter does not regenerate anything — it settles in the brine well, works its way onto the resin bed and shortens its life. At ≤ 0.02% insolubles these tablets sit well inside EN 973 Grade A, which is the specification a softener manufacturer's warranty is usually written against.

Chemically this is the same material as our bulk sodium chloride — the difference is purity and form, not substance. If you are regenerating at industrial volume and your brine system handles granular salt without bridging, the industrial grade on that page is the cheaper way to buy the same chloride.
