Multimedia bed package delivered as one matched consignment for a planned shutdown with a fixed return-to-service date.
Previous changeouts had used media sourced layer by layer from different suppliers. Densities were not correctly spaced, so the layers intermixed on the first backwash and never re-stratified — the bed was effectively single-media within a week.
A single pre-matched tri-media package — anthracite, silica sand and garnet with the full gravel set — sized to the vessel diameter and supplied with a bed schedule giving layer depths, volumes and weights. Bags were labelled by layer and palletised in installation order.
All six vessels were rebuilt and returned to service within the shutdown window. Layer separation held through commissioning backwash.
