Four grades, from road de-icing to the table

Sodium Chloride (Salt)

Washed and graded sodium chloride in road, industrial, food and table grades. Each grade is produced to its own specification — purity, granulometry and additives differ, and so does the documentation that travels with it.

  • Manufactured to: EN 973 (regeneration)
  • Manufactured to: EN 16811-1 (de-icing)
  • Manufactured to: CODEX STAN 150-1985 (food grade)
  • Manufactured to: ES 999 (table salt, Egypt)

Overview

Salt is four different products sharing one chemical formula. Road salt is judged on how fast it depresses the freezing point and how well it spreads; industrial salt on chloride purity and what the insolubles do downstream; food grade on contamination control and traceability; table salt on grain uniformity, free flow and — in Egypt, by law — iodisation.

Treating them as one product is where suppliers get caught. A grade sold on chloride purity alone can be perfectly compliant and still be wrong for a water softener, because regeneration salt is specified on insolubles and dissolution rate rather than on NaCl percentage. We produce and certify each grade against the standard that governs it, not against a single house specification.

Food and table grades are produced, stored and packed on a segregated line. That separation is not a courtesy — it is what makes the food safety documentation defensible when an auditor asks how a de-icing product and a table product share a site.
